The music of ernesto lecuona
Lauren Martinez has been researching the life, works, and inspirations of the “Cuban Gershwin” Ernesto Lecuona for six years and is an avid performer of his many piano works. Lauren has presented original research at national and local conferences, aiming to bring awareness to this beloved Cuban composer. Having personal connections with the Lecuona family, Lauren has made it her mission to dedicate her career to performing, studying, and sharing the music of Ernesto Lecuona to those in her hometown of El Paso and beyond.
Her current project is titled Diario de un niño: Tales from a Child’s Heart. This piano program brings to life the story of Ernesto Lecuona in a fun, whimsical and interactive way!
